Burnham cools the fiery Wilcox


Burnham stopped the Wilcox late-rally on Thursday to win at home 8-7, ending the Chargers’ nine-game winning streak.

Wilcox, ranked 10th by the Bay Area News Group, scored two in seventh to bring the deficit down to one, but Burnham survived the game without a league to improve to 12-4.

Wilcox dropped to 13-5.

Burnham erased a 3-0 deficit in the first inning with a run in the second and three in the fourth.

Wilcox regained the lead with two in the top five, but Burnham answered with four in the bottom half of the round.

Tyler Siegel hit home run solo, Owen Williams scored three strokes and scored three runs and Nolan Rodriguez top a pair of runs for Burnham, who have won seven of their last eight games.

Burnham are averaging 10.6 runs per game this season and 13 runs per game in their wins.

Sacred Heart Preparation 9, Harker 0

Sacred Heart Prep’s John Haloren hit 17 and allowed just two hits as the Gators passed the Harker in an athletics league game in the Peninsula.

John Adrian Dioli hit a home run of two runs, his first this season, and Tyler Wong had three RBIs for SHP (6-10, 4-2).

Harker dropped to 3-10, 1-3.

No. 5 Foothill 2, Berean Christian 0

Jackson Flora of Pothill hit one shot and hit seven to lead the Falcons over Brian Christian in the Service Champions Classic.

Brendan Comerford had two doubles and an RBI for Foothill (13-1).

Brian Christian dropped to 8-6.

No. 11 Lei 2, Prospectus 1

Jonathan Sun’s double forward at the bottom of the fifth put Ley ahead of the prospect (6-8) in a non-league game.

Dillon Patterson hit nine and allowed two shots for Longhorn (13-3).

Leland 9, Willow Glenn 3 (8 innings)

Leland scored six runs in the eighth inning to beat host Willow Glenn in the Blossom Valley Athletics League game at Mount Hamilton.

Leland improved to 5-9, 3-3. Willow Glenn is 11-5-1, 1-5.
