Chelsea owners have seen leadership qualities in 23-year-old star

Chelsea’s owners have reportedly spotted leadership traits in Reece James and expect him to develop into a real senior figure at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues hierarchy, which is spearheaded by co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, are admirers of their current star.

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea’s ownership feel like James can grow into a leader at the club.

The report explains that the 23-year-old Blues defender can lead with both his performances and character.

In addition, it is understood they’ve spotted similar traits in Mason Mount.

Reece James leadership

James definitely leads by example on the pitch when fit, so putting his name forward as the club’s next captain seems like a sensible bet.

The right-back is fantastic as a player when it comes to both attacking and defending. He plays with a real aggression and spirit that the Blues fanbase love, too.

Described as “powerful and strong” by Conor Gallagher, James is becoming Chelsea’s most important player that is sorely missed right now during his current injury absence.

Every supporter will be desperate for him to be back on the pitch to lift his side during a difficult period.

There’s no doubt Boehly and Co need to build this Chelsea side around players like James.

Many are suggesting this current Blues XI lacks leaders, which is why they sit mid-table in the Premier League and out of both domestic cups in January.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom when you look at the players still to return from injury.
