Class Of 2024 Star Zack Ryder Commits To Penn State Wrestling

Penn State wrestling just keeps getting better, folks.

Class of 2024 star Zack Ryder announced Friday morning that he’s committing to Cael Sanderson’s program.

“I am extremely excited and blessed to announce that I will be furthering my athletic and academic career at Penn State University,” Ryder wrote.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me and helped me get to the point l’m at right now in life,” he continued. “I am honored to be joining the legacy at Penn State and to be given the opportunity to help carry on that legacy. We just getting started.”

The New Yorker currently wrestles at Minisink Valley High School. He’s a state champion and is currently ranked as New York Wrestling News’ No. 1-ranked recruit in the Class of 2024. According to FloWrestlingRyder won a Fargo 16U freestyle title in 2021 at 152 pounds.

Ryder, who has two state titles under his belt, projects to wrestle at 184 pounds at Penn State, per InterMat. This is the Nittany Lions’ first verbal commitment to their 2024 class.

This continues what has been a busy offseason for Penn State wrestling that has included several commitments. Most recently, the Nittany Lions picked up a verbal commitment from Class of 2023 star AJ Fricchione. However, a contract extension for legendary coach Cael Sanderson earlier this offseason is what stands out among all.
