College Football Memo Madness, Final Four: Vote for the best sports viral films of all time

Like the NCAA tournament, the Meme Madness bracket has reached its final stage. The Final Four starts with the remaining two memes from the Fan Region and the Players & Coaches Region, which won the Championship.

Elite Eight was the story of two regions that produced very different results. Fan Region exploded with first-seeded Michigan Surrender Cobra winning 81.3% of the vote and third-seeded Anoid LSU Girl 64.2%. The same can be said for the Players & Coaches region, as Urban Meyer’s golf cart pizza – first seed – was eliminated from the tournament for less than five percentage points in Hugh Free’s hospital bed. Now, the ultimate underdog has its shot.

Every year, dozens of images go viral on social media and countless group chats, becoming cultural touchstones in the sport. However, there are a select few who will last longer and enter the world of college football permanently.

Now, we want to help you choose the best one.

To sum it up, our staff curated 16 memorable memes from the Twitter era and divided them into two areas: Fans, Coaches & Players. The bracket includes everything from Heismann Trophy winners and disgruntled fans to memorable training reactions. But more than anything, it includes moments that make college football so unique.

CBS Sports Graphic

(1) Michigan Surrender Cobra vs. (3) Harassed LSU Girl

(1) Michigan Surrendering Coward: The devastating reaction deserves a crazy moment: Michigan State recovered a smashing past snap in 2015 for a shocking game-winning touchdown at the Big House, giving it back. The test of time is perhaps the greatest surrender in the history of college football (c. Sean McDonough’s iconic call). The film defeated Eminem’s bizarre journey to the booth during the 2013 Notre Dame-Michigan Games, and then defeated the Creepy Tennessee Star to reach the final four with 81% of the vote.

(3) Harassed LSU girl: In 2018, the Tigers’ game against Alabama was not planned for a 29-0 defeat. At the time of the explosion, the CBS broadcast caught an angry fan staring cool on the camera and immediately went viral. The GIF featuring the camera zoom creates an impression. A year later, the same fan posted the GIF of her smile when the Tigers defeated Crimson Tide on her way to the national title. The enraged LSU girl defeated the exhausted Virginia Tube man 3-6 in a strong fight, but then disappointed the shirtless NC State Dude with 64% of the vote.

(5) Freeze Hospital Bed Approval Vs. (2) Beamer’s 0-0 celebration

(5) Approval of Hugh Freeze Hospital Bed: Meme Madness’s upset when she reached the final four, just 3.6% ahead of Freeze Hospital Bed first seed Urban Myers Golf Cart Pizza. Most people consider herniated discs and life-threatening staff infections to be a good excuse to take a few days off from work. Not freeze. The Liberty coach came in a wheelchair and was hospitalized in a 24-0 defeat to Syracuse. The best picture came from the post-game “Handshake” when Freeze waved to Dino Babers from his perch above the stadium.

(2) Frank Beamer’s 0-0 celebration: Former Virginia tech coach Frank Beamer is known for his physical defense and his ability to play extraordinary games. It was a peak beamer (and ACC football) moment when the cameras captured the celebration of the end of a scoreless control against Wake Forest. Beamer defeated the image of Derrick Henry standing high above Mark Ingram and then knocked out Bobby Petrino’s neck brace in a fierce fight.
