The University of Dakota Wesleyan is hosting an informational event for its Learn & Earn program tonight (April 11, 2022) on the capital’s campus in Pierre.
Prospective students and their families are invited to the capital campus to meet with DWU representatives. The open house will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Those who want to participate asked to be registered www.dwu.edu/pierre_events. Meals are served.
DWU’s Learn & Earn program, which is offered entirely on site at Pierre, is a 16-month path to a professional career and a postgraduate degree for students with the option of completing a bachelor’s degree. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for professional roles while also obtaining professional certifications.
The first-of-its-kind program combines classroom and online learning with professional work experience. Registered students complete an internship in absentia and for a fee while completing their professional certificates in one year.
The DWU program is divided into four, four-month modules, including professional training; basics of business; management and marketing; and industry-specific areas. Weekly schedules place students together for two or three days in the classroom and two or three days in their internship, depending on how long they enroll. Successful graduates receive their partner degrees and can easily transition to a bachelor’s degree program.
Each student will be paired with a personal and professional tutor to assist them throughout the program. The tutor is the student’s liaison for any advice or service needed to succeed. Trainers assist in classroom learning and play a central role in assessing student progress.
