EL CENTRO —On the morning of Thursday, January 26, the El Centro Regional Medical (ECRMC) Board members, the City of El Centro, and ECRMC hospital leadership held a joint news conference this morning to share updated information related to hospital services, clarify information, and respond to questions related to the hospital, according to a press release.
Tomas Oliva, President of the Board of Directors for ECRMC offered comment on the matter. “I want our community to know that El Centro Regional Medical Center is open,” Oliva said. ” Our emergency room is open to provide medical services to our community. We are working closely with our hospital administration and local healthcare providers. We will continue to provide quality healthcare services to our community.” Oliva emphasized the importance of community unity as the future of healthcare services is discussed in the community.
Suzanne Martinez, Chief Nursing Officer for ECRMC, shared information about the availability of the hospital’s medical and emergency services and addressed the misinformation circulating in the community. “The hospital’s Emergency Department continues to be open 24/7 with Board-certified physicians, and the staff is ready to respond to any emergency medical need, including material and pediatric emergencies,” said Martinez. She explained that although a notice for termination of base hospital services was submitted to the County in December, the ECRMC Board rescinded the notice earlier this week to ensure that emergency services continue.
According to the press release, there have been several meetings with the Imperial County EMS Agency, Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District, and other first-response stakeholders regarding what the base hospital service will look like in Imperial County moving forward and what is best for the community. as a whole.
Rosanna Lugo, ECRMC Marketing Director, discussed the importance of accessing reliable sources for information. Lugo encouraged community members to visit the official websites and social media for ECRMC, Pioneers memorial Healthcare District, and the City of El Centro to avoid the spread of erroneous of inaccurate information.
