Huron Plainsman | Class AA teams remain undefeated in the 3-Class Shootout

SALEM – With six players scoring double in scoring, Class AA recorded a 95:75 victory over Class A in the opening 3-Class Shootout match on Saturday.

Ndaakalenga Mwenentanda led the AA team with 24 points, while Sidney Thue had 17 points. Kaela Martinez and Bailey Sobczak each scored 12 points, while Ellie Karolevitz and Jayda McNabb scored 11 points each.

Mwenentanda had 13 rebounds to help the AA dominate the 62:45 on the board. Sobczak recorded three assists.

Bella Swedlund led 17 points and eight rebounds and led class A. Rylee Rosenquist had 12 points, while Ashtyn Wobig added 10 points.

Swedlund was named MVP for Class A.

SALEM – After leading 65:61 at the end of the third quarter, Class AA scored 33 points in the final quarter and scored a 98:71 victory against Class B in the 3-Class Shoutout on Saturday.

Mwenentanda finished the match with the highest score of 34 points and had 15 rebounds to lead the AA class. Sobczak had 19 points and Martinez 11 points. McNabb and Boyer had 10 points each.

Rachel Gerlach had 17 points, including four threes to lead Class A. Maleighya Estes and Morgan Clites had 10 points each, while Kennadi Buchholz added nine points and eight rebounds.

Mwenentanda was an AA Class MVP, while Gerlach was a Class B MVP.

SALEM – The AA boys gathered in the fourth quarter to beat Class A in Saturday’s opening 3-Class Shootout.

Marcus Phillips joined five 3-points en route to 23 points to lead the AA class. Mikele Kambalo and Caden Hinker had 13 points each, while Micah Johnson and Alec Voegele added 11 and 10 points each.

Cael Lundon led Class A with 20 points, Hile Tash Lunday had 18 points and 16 rebounds. Tyler O’Neill scored 14 points, Dillon Jackon and Carter Robertson added 11 and 10 points respectively.

Hinker was named MVP for Class AA, while Lundin was awarded Class A.

SALEM – With 40 points in the third quarter, the AA class team rolled through the B class 122:86 on Saturday during a 3rd class shootout.

Caden Hinker had 26 points and 14 rebounds to lead the AA class. Micah Johnson had 21 points, followed by Marcus Phillips with 16 points, Alec Voegele with 13 points and Vance Borchers with 10 points.

Kalen Garry started the B-Class with 24 points. Logan Cooper had 18 points and Quincy Blue added 14 points.

Hinker and Phillips shared the award for Most Valuable Player for Class AA, while Garry was named MVP Class B. Hinker was also the winner of the slam dunk competition.
