Albuquerque Community Schools are proud to be culturally responsive with the Center for Teaching and Learning. This organization exists to turn the cultural response into a meaningful aspect of daily life. A cultural approach is a way of life that seeks to validate and validate different cultures with the goals of passing on race and below a superficial interest in culture. Its view is a cultural one for everyone. The number one goal is to make school communities, professional communities, and the general public more culturally responsive. Dr. Sharrock Holly is the Executive Director of the Center for Educational and Cultural Responsibility. Dr. Holly is a national educator who has trained thousands of teachers in the field of cultural adaptation.

This three-hour course, designed for APS teachers as well as APS staff working in schools / classrooms, defines what a cultural approach is and why it is needed in our schools today. It also builds knowledge and lays the groundwork for problem solving
the needs of poor students in terms of their socio-political and socio-linguistic relativeity in the American education system.

Introduction to culturally and linguistically responsive teaching and learning for APS staff with an N-Word workshop

This three-hour course Introduction to culturally responsive teaching and learning for APS staff with an N-Word Workshop focuses on how to deal with the word N and how to learn it with students. Participants are asked to reflect on their views on the word N and learn about the importance of cultural language, the social and emotional power of words, and how to get out of the controversial use of that word.
