Local author Kirstin Dias has just released her second children’s book, Kindness Pie.
This book follows the success of her 2021 book C is for CAMP: An Alphabet Adventure.
Kindness Pie was written to take readers through the process of baking a pie while demonstrating simple concepts of kindness.
“Teaching our kids to be kind and show love can be difficult to explain in words they understand,” Dias, who is mom herself said in a news release issued today. “Kindness Pie makes the concepts of kindness more relatable to them.”
Anyone interested in purchasing the book can do so here.

Local author Kirstin Dias has released her second children’s book following the success of 2021’s “C is for CAMP: An Alphabet Adventure.” “C is for CAMP” sold 1000 copies in its first six weeks and has sold over 3000 copies to date. Her sophomore book, “Kindness Pie,” is available on Dias’ website bowandbearco.com and will be offered at select local retailers next month.
Dias, a born and raised Saultite, is the Marketing Director at YNCU. She says the community’s response to her first book is what inspired her to write another. “I could have never anticipated the response to ‘C is for CAMP’,” says Dias. “Northern Ontario really championed that book and made it such a huge success. I learned so much from the process and really feel like “Kindness Pie” shows my evolution as an author. I’m very proud of it.” Dias teamed up with Ontario illustrator Rebecca Thompson again and self-published the book. “Kindness Pie” was written to take readers through the process of baking a pie while demonstrating simple concepts of kindness. Dias, who is mom herself says, “Teaching our kids to be kind and show love can be difficult to explain in words they understand. Kindness Pie makes the concepts of kindness more relatable to them.”
Dias is also continuing to give back with her shop. She says, “Access to literacy is a cause that’s important to me. That’s why I donate copies of my book to our local library and to The Piper Project which stocks our hospital with books for new babies to take home. I am also donating a portion of proceeds to First Book Canada, which effectively delivers literacy resources to low-income children in Canada.”
“Kindness Pie” is available now at bowandbearco.com, along with a curated collection of unique Canadian-made play-based learning resources.
