Notre Dame finally bowed to her recruitment class in 2022 by acquiring the talented running back Gi’Bran Payna. This means that we can give the offensive move the final mark. All of these grades are based on high school grades and grades, and everything that was done in the spring as an early student – good or bad – was not taken into account.
QUATTERBACK
degree: C +
Signee: Steve Angeli
Angeli is a solid football player who has a Sean Clifford (Penn State), Jack Coan (Notre Dame) projection type. He is said to be a young man of high character with a good quarterback size, a quick release and he is a player. What he lacks in the great strength of his arms replaces the overall good feeling of the game.
The smoothest way to the championship is to have an elite quarterback and Angela is not an elite defender. But he is a player, a skilled young player and he is a capable player who could win a lot of games if he had strong enough support around him.
RUN BACK
degree: A-
Signee: Jadarian Price, Gi’Bran Payne
This degree jumped from B + after Payne chose the Irish. Price was ranked as the 100 best members of the Irish Breakdown Council after a dominant senior season, in which he hurried to 1,803 yards (9.3 YPC) and 18 touchdowns, showing an extraordinary dose, excellent athletics and a top vision and feel for the game. .
The cost of landing was huge for Notre Dame. The mark was withdrawn because Notre Dame clearly wanted to return to the class, but missed many of her highest goals, such as Nicholas Singleton, Dallan Hayden a Gavin Sawchuk. If Payne hadn’t been hurt, he’s quite likely to be a player whose staff preferred much earlier, but instead the staff missed their next goals and eventually signed only Price in December.
Payne is a legitimate four-star running back and without being hurt in the last two seasons, he would get a Top 150 caliber mark, and that’s true if he hadn’t improved at all since his second film. His mark is being removed by injuries, which is why I only have him in the Top 250-300 rankings at the moment.
If Payne returns to full speed and stays healthy, this group Price and Payna will give the Irish a couple of very talented and dynamic backs.
BROADBAND RECEIVER
degree: B-
Signee: Tobias Merriweather
It could be stated that the mark should be lower, because Notre Dame was missing in the class by at least two players. With so many staff losses in the last season (five transfers) and the possibility of losing even more players from the current roster, the staff needed influential talent and needed numbers. After the loss CJ Williams (USC) a Amorion Walker (Michigan) in the days before the contract was signed, it’s clear Alexandra a Tommy Rees came woefully short.
There will be time for recovery by the February date of signing the contract, but the evaluation is severely damaged due to a bad finish and a controversial recruitment procedure from the beginning.
The reason I still give B- is because I think Merriweather is good. It is ranked as a Top 50 caliber recruit on my board and has the same mark in the SI All-American ranking (No. 46 nationwide). Merriweather is a potentially dynamic player who can play all over the field, can stretch the field, can play after catching and can win disputed throws. When he fills his frame, his game explodes.
TIGHT END
degree: A
Signed personsStarring Eli Raridon, Holden Staes
When it comes to the best class in the country where Notre Dame is located, it is better to be in this conversation. Raridon is in the Top 100 and Staes is ranked as the Top 200 with a potential of Top 50. This is a very, very talented pair of tight endings.
Notre Dame certainly met her needs in the classroom and gained a talent for impressiveness. Equally important, Raridon and Staes complement each other very, very well. Both can do a little of everything, but their advantages are a little different, which means that they can be used together as well as in rotation.

OFFENSIVE LINE
degree: A-
Signed personsStarring: Ty Chan, Ashton Craig, Billy Schrauth, Joey Tanona, Aamil Wagner
Notre Dame needed numbers in this class, but more importantly, she needed depth of talent, and that’s exactly what the staff got with this five-member class. No matter who you consider the fifth best candidate in this line, I am willing to bet that he is better than any other fifth best candidate in the last decade. Talent at the highest level may not be that good, but the depth of talent is excellent.
This is important because five really good players who fit together can be an elite unit, even if it lacks one elite player. Rees a Jeff Quinn he had some bumps on the road, but at the end of the day the class was very good. Schrauth’s landing at the end was what made the deal. This is not an A class without Schrauth, so getting him late in the process was huge.
In addition to individual talent, this group also met the needs of the position. Notre Dame needed at least two hits, and she did with Chan and Wagner, although I have some questions about Chan’s ability to stay on edge based on his older film. However, it could be stated that the other three signatories could also play tackles. This is a five-member group that can naturally and comfortably create a starting line if a need arises, and it’s harder than you think.
