WILLMAR — Children and their parents took a step back in time Wednesday afternoon to relive a historic journey of grand proportions at the Willmar Public Library.

Youngsters and their parents worked together to construct covered wagons as they brought the historic Oregon Trail journey to life through an interactive activity led by Willmar Public Library children’s librarian Alyssa Lennander.

Homeschool Hour is a monthly gathering of homeschooled students and their parents to do a fun activity.

This time around, Lennander taught the children about the perilous journey west for many during the early exploration days of the United States, before walking them through the process to construct their very own wagons.

The gatherings are held on the third Wednesday of each month beginning at 2 pm at the Willmar Public Library.
