Erling Haaland has had an incredible start to the 2022/23 season.
Haaland arrived at Manchester City last summer with a lot of expectation.
And he has shown what the fuss was all about with an phenomenal first campaign at The Citizens.
The 22-year-old has already notched 27 goals in 22 games for City this season.
He’s broken a number of records already and many more will surely fall over the next few months.
There is no doubt that Haaland is a world-class player. But who else in the Premier League are world-class?
The Premier League’s 15 world-class players
The term ‘world-class’ is subjective and varies from person-to-person.
We think, for a player to be defined as world-class, they have to be among the world’s best three or four players in their position.
At the start of the season, we named the Premier League’s 19 world-class players.

We now think that there are 15 world-class players in the Premier League, as of January 2023. View them below…
Manchester City
Ederson, Ruben Dias, Joao Cancelo, Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland
Ederson is a superb goalkeeper who is unrivaled when it comes to his distribution.
Dias and Cancelo perhaps haven’t hit the heights that they have done in recent years but are there three better players in world football in their position? We don’t think so.
Rodri has been a key part of City’s success over the past few years. Still only 26, he could continue at the club for the next decade.
There surely isn’t a single person in the world that will argue against De Bruyne and Haaland being world-class.
Arsenal
Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka
We didn’t think Arsenal had any world-class players at the start of the season. They now have three after an incredible start to the campaign.
Partey and Odegaard are both playing at an extraordinary level and have been paramount in establishing Arsenal’s five-point lead in the Premier League.
Saka has emerged into a world-class player in recent times. There isn’t a single team in world football that wouldn’t want him in their ranks.
At 21 years old, he will only get better and better.
Arsenal have a few more players on the cusp of being world-class, including Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba.

Liverpool
Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah
Liverpool have had a tough season, but Alisson and Salah can hold their head up high.
Alisson made an uncharacteristic howler in the FA Cup against Wolves earlier this month but things would be even worse for Liverpool without him.
Salah has scored 15 times for Liverpool this season and remains one of the top forwards in world football.
Van Dijk has not been at his best this season, a major reason why Liverpool have struggled. But, despite a poor few months by his incredibly high standards, we think he’s still a world-class defender.
We thought Trent Alexander-Arnold. Andy Robertson, Fabinho and Thiago were all world-class at the start of the season but they have not played to that level this season.

Manchester United
Casemiro
We think only one Man United player can be considered world-class: Casemiro. The Brazilian is a beast in midfield.
Marcus Rashford has been electric in recent weeks and may achieve world-class status if he carries on his form.

Chelsea
Reece James
James has had a frustrating season with injuries but when on the pitch he is crucial to Chelsea.
The 23-year-old is impressive going forward as he is in defense. He is Chelsea’s only world-class player at this time.

Tottenham Hotspur
Harry Kane
Kane has scored 15 times in 18 Premier League games for Spurs this season. It would be a huge shame if someone so good ends his career without winning a trophy.
We thought Son Heung-min was world-class at the start of the season. He has lost that tag after a disappointing campaign which has seen him score just four Premier League goals.
