Students of Indian descent celebrate

With Belleville’s 2d annual Diwali Festival coming up October 16 some residents of Indian descent have already held a special celebration.

Onam is an annual cultural festival in the Indian state of Kerala. A major annual event for Keralites, it is the official festival of the state and includes a spectrum of cultural events.

Belleville Malayalee Students Kootaima consists of a group of students who came together to build a community for the students from Kerala . The main aim of the group is to bring all the students in Belleville who are from Kerala under a platform to help them to adjust with the new place , meet people from the community and bring them together and make them comfortable when away from family by helping. to connect them with appropriate resources in the community.

The students from Kerala booked the Riverside park for their celebration September 17.. The celebration included everyone wearing their cultural attire , cultural events like music, traditional dances and fun filled games which is usually a part of the celebration. The celebration is also marked with the traditional delicacy which is a vegetarian feast.
