UNO Student Zoe Miller Receives 2022 Marian Ivers Community Service Leadership Award | Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center

Zoe’s dedication to community service began in high school, serving in Methodist Hospital’s Volunteen program, which engaged high school students interested in health care.

Since then, she has volunteered for Planned Parenthood Advocates of Nebraska and Women who Run Nebraska and has interned at the Nebraska Civic Engagement Table. She is a member of the Emerging Leaders Circle with the Women’s Fund of Omaha and Urban Abbey and is currently President of the UNO Public Health Student Association.

Her involvement with UNO’s Women & Gender Equity Center (WGEC) has led to her current role as the co-director of the organization. The WGEC functions to promote gender wellness and equality in the UNO community through campus events, outreach, and initiatives. As co-director, she has helped solidify the partnership with Maverick Food Pantry through the Essential Supply Program, a program that supplies free sexual health, menstrual, and parenting products to any UNO student.

Zoe is also the social media director for Sustain UNO, which focuses on implementing sustainable initiatives and programs on campus. She is involved in the Chancellor’s Sustainability Committee, Engagement subcommittee, and the Nebraska University System’s President’s Sustainability Council. She led a movement in UNO to keep sustainability prevalent on campus.

Zoe enjoys giving her services to the UNO campus to grow in public health, sustainability, and gender equity. In the future, she wants to become involved in community building concerning reproductive health and justice. She wants to make a difference in the community and like Marian Ivers, is a changemaker for women and girls.
